About A Brief Back Door History Celebrating 22 years 1986 - 2008 The Back Door Pizza opened its doors in October 1978. Two of the original owners were Peter Seras and his daughter, Barbara Jean. Together they combined efforts to focus on pizzas, grinders, and submarine sandwiches with take out and delivery service. Some of these items still remain on the menu today. Barbara continued with her law practice during the day, while making pizza at night. She took sole ownership in 1980 and continued to expand the menu to include Calzones, Strombolis, Greek Salads and Specialty Pizzas. In 1986, after seven yeas as manager of Houlihan's Old Place Restaurant, Bill returned to Carlisle to purchase The Back Door Pizza. He promptly changed the name to The Back Door Cafe. There were extensive dining room renovations and table service was initiated. Additional menu changes were made to emphasize quality, freshness and homemade goodness. Renovations in the kitchen soon followed and homemade desserts were introduced. Today, Bill and I are striving to provide downtown Carlisle with great food and service in a clean and cozy atmosphere. -Sandy
